Also, I don't think "Mittens the Cat" really counts since the "the" is lowercase, implying that's a description, not a surname. Now, unless their middle name actually was "The", maybe.

It'd be funny if in a game when a reporter addresses Sonic as "Mr. Hedgehog" he says "Actually, it's Mr. *the* Hedgehog"

One of the examples listed from Darkwing Duck is a news anchor with the last name Gander. I don't remember this character. What episode is it from? The only named news anchor I remember from the show is Tom Lockjaw.
I bet this sometimes overlaps with His Name Really Is "Barkeep". For example, in a Funny Animal setting, you have a barkeep dog, who's mostly referred as "Barkeep Dog", which later turns out to actually be his name.
