Interesting. wondering about starting a non-computer-games section, but so far I can only think of one example: the way model railway layouts are usually in perfect and constant scale except for one thing. The dstance between "halts" on a typical layout, if measured in constant HO/OO scale, might be a few hundred yards between a railway station in a town and a representative country village that might in real life be quite a few miles away. This compression of scale is probably necessary - a HO/OO model railway layout that maintained a perfect scale distance between a representation of (for instance) Edgeley station, Stockport, and the nearby town of Macclesfieldnote 12 miles away, would have to be 850 feet long. Which would not easily into the average spare room or garage.
