Is Sam from Danny Phantom really the best page image? There are plenty of examples that are more iconic than her—Lisa Simpson, for one.
Hide / Show RepliesThe image has to illustrate trope - people have to understand what the image means without having seen the work it is from and this image does
If there is illustrative image that you think is better you can start a thread on Image Pickin
Is Huey Freeman in The Boondocks (and the TV show) a Soapbox Sadie as well?
He tends to go beyond protesting, believing them ineffective, and actually physically fight the people he feels are his enemies though.
Edited by ZombieAladdinWhat does "Sadie" means? I found in google that it is a nickname for Sarah... so Soapbox Sarah? Or what I used to think it was "Soapbox sadist"...
Hide / Show RepliesIt's a generic name. Like how someone says "well, I don't want to be a Debbie Downer, but..." Sadie is the name that gets attached to Soapbox.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.I stand corrected.
- The namesake for this trope is the character of Sadie Lowenstein, who had this nickname in the musical TV film Mrs. Santa Claus. Sadie was a young suffragette in 1910 Manhattan who literally got up on her soapbox (that is, she made her speeches atop a box marked "SOAP").
It probably stuck because of the alliteration and catchiness, but I guess it is specifically named for her.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them. This seems to imply there's something wrong with protest in general, what's the difference and [1]?
Have a nice day!I think the condition should be added that it must be played for laughs. I don't think every activist character counts as this.
Betty Cooper?
Unless this trope is intended to be a lot broader than the description details, Betty Cooper (Archie Comics) doesn't fit the bill.
Hide / Show RepliesThis definitely needs narrowing,it seems to be saying that any protestor is automatically wrong and whiny
Have a nice day!I wonder, how come this trope is always female? I can recall seeing plenty of male examples on documentaries and the news.
I admit it, you can call me a Soapbox Steve. I'm really passionate about eradicating sinophobia throughout the world and making Chinese as widely used a language as English.
