I'm pretty sure you are not allowed to kill enemies who are attempting to surrender. There are good reasons for this, one being that if the enemy know you are going to kill their soldiers who are trying to surrender, they are more likely to fight to the death. Another reason it's not allowed is that the victim of an atrocity is, under international law, allowed to retaliate, so you are only harming your own side.
Does this trope also apply to killing enemies while they're surrendering? If not, is there a trope for killing surrendering soldiers?
