How about a Real Life section for this? The growing trend of guns shipping with rails instead of ironsights comes to mind, as well as nobody using the sights on the Calico guns (which are mounted on their magazines).

Re Star Wars smallarms... they weren't *modelled off* real weapons.. they WERE scrapped real weapons, but with bits added - deactivated of course.

Han Solo's Blastech C41 was a Mauser "Broomhandle" with a laser-sight prop added; The Stormtroopers' carbines were junked Sterling L 2 A 3 SM Gs with other sights added on, and altered.
