The title is a meaningless word salad that needs to be changed to something that's not "computer nerds' misconceptions about psychology: the trope".

So what the hell is this trope, and why does it have the name it does? Is it "science causes you to go insane"? Is it "insanity causes you to do science"? How is it "memetic"? Needs a better explanation, or at least consider a rename.

  • Fringe lives on this trope.
    • Though Walter Bishop's obvious insanity probably comes from either William Bell ordering him lobotomized, or his guilt over the wrongdoings he caused For Science!.

Not seeing how this counts from the information given.

Support stupid freshness, yo.
