If it's a work starring where sapient dolphins with Psychic Powers built Atlantis, it's this trope, but if a work is set in a World of Funny Animals and one character is a dolphin, it's not. Just looking through the examples, some clearly fit, some clearly don't, and some I can't tell. Should I just clean up the misuse, or should I do a full wick or example check and start a TRS thread?
