The Weinsten effect Thanos'd almost every actor, voice actor and producers in existence.
Per TRS, the definition has been modified to include the following criteria:
- Both on-set and off-set behavior are covered
- The creator must have actually lost a role
- At least two weeks must have passed before an example can be added
I have an idea. How about a section/page for law (prosecutors and lawyers)?
Hide / Show RepliesI feel like that's a topic beyond the scope of this trope, moreso than the examples on politicians and news media that are here.
Deleted the following as per How to Write an Example - Don't Refer to Other Items on the Page and Word Cruft - Positional comparatives.
, much like the Yancy Butler example elsewhere on this page,

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman Hide / Show RepliesThat thread seems to have been locked, but is there any reason why it can't just be renamed to "Role Ending Offense"? That the pages for Weinstein, Spacey, and Kris Wu can only attribute their actual rapes as "misdemeanors" is problematic.
Where do Carmine DeSapio and Meade Esposito go now that the Politics section was deleted? Trying to find an appropriate section for these two but I don't think the Other section is good for them.
I'm wondering if this trope mightn't need a renaming. Quite a few of the role-ending crimes are most assuredly NOT misdemeanors (like Polanski's rape charges) and a few are unwise but not crimes (Heinz ticking off Mc Donald's by hiring a former Burger King executive).
Hide / Show RepliesI don't think there's any misuse of the trope. Those are correct uses based on the definition. Tropes titles don't have to be 100% literal.

I know that trope names don't have to be "literal," but calling some of this stuff "misdemeanors" is seriously downplaying it. It's not just a matter of denotation, it's also a matter of connotation, and when I hear "misdemeanor," my first thought is "not that big a deal," and some of these things are definitely pretty big deals.
Why did I choose my username as a number?I already added this example but how would animal mascots (as in an actual animal and not someone in an animal costume) fall under this trope. The example I mentioned was a dog (who was the mascot of one of the teams) pooping on the field during the national anthem on the field. The dog never appeared in any subsequent games meaning and my inside knowledge seems to point to the dog being retired form the mascot job. I am just wanting to be sure this is indeed an example and I will remove if it isn't.
I am one with the force. the force is with meI'm not entirely comfortable with characterizing what Jontron said as "alt-right" when he himself admitted that he misspoke his arguments and got backed into a corner during his argument with Destiny that led to him getting overly flustered.
At the very least, I feel like that wording is very uncharitable to the man.
Hide / Show RepliesAgreed we probably need to scrub any mention of the Alt-right from these examples unless the person in question in question admits to being Alt-Right. Most examples that use that term are written with a clear lack of objectivity. the examples need to be reworded so they don't have a clear slant against that person and that needs to discussed elsewhere.
I am one with the force. the force is with me- In October 2018, Chuck Wendig was scheduled to write Star Wars comic Shadow of Vader until he was fired by Marvel over vulgar and uncivil discourse on social media.
The image on the page was added without an IP thread on it being made nor being proposed on the Image Suggestion thread. On top of that, it feels JAFAAC to me.
Hide / Show RepliesTake it to Image Pickin. Yeah, it really only shoes the "Misdemeanor" part, not the "Role-Ending" bit.

- Does David Caruso and NYPD Blue ring a bell to anyone?
Kyle: Ike! Do your impersonation of David Caruso's career!Ike: It's my turn! (dives off a high surface, lands head-first in snow)
Because Caruso asked to leave the show. The fact that he was a jerk but they still gave the character a respectable send-off shows there wasn't much bitterness from the producers.
Hide / Show RepliesWhy was the example of Onision deleted?

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanNote that folie is now banned, so... if you want to readd it, go nuts.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.I can't help but feel like this doesn't really fit... for one it's pretty hard to work when you've been arrested, and for another "misdemeanor" doesn't quite... cut it.
- The creator of Hentai cosplay comedy manga/anime Go Go Marine-chan, Hideki Nonomura, was arrested in 2005 for raping one of his assistants over a seven month period. Apparently, he was living out his sexual fantasies in real life through the victim, since outside of Marine-chan, Nonomura's entire body of work revolved around stories about naive women being tied up and raped over a consecutive time period.
- Alastair Stewart, British newsreader and host of documentary series Police Camera Action had his contract terminated in 2003 for a drink-driving offense (his second one, he'd referred to it previously in a November 1994 episode, the show's second episode) and was relegated to intro and outros in the Rebooted version of it, which was now presented by Alastair Stewart and Adrian Simpson, as of September 2007. Surprisingly, he was allowed to present the special edition episode Ultimate Pursuits in September 2007.
I can't make heads or tails of this. It says he's "relegated to intros and outros" but also an outright presenter?
Where would one put a fanfic writer who was forced into retirement after it was revealed they were gaslighting other fanfic writers?
