I read a short story in which this device is used twice. A character is concealing her identiy in order to escape a gang of criminals and the police. Her first name was ridiculous and her last name was very difficult to pronounce, so she could use her real full name as an alias. Some guy uses an alias in order to pull off a convoluted plan. The alias he uses is 'Alice Smith'. Turns out it's his real name.
This is a straight example, from the literature section, if anyone ever figures out what the story is. The fact that a troper read it does not make it TT.
