Real dreams do have a logic to them. It's the elements that form it that are surreal.
For duty, duty, must be done, the rule applies to everyone; This Troper has so many, such as: A. A base ball game suddenly turning into a surreal landscape, and me turning into Bowser. B. Having to spend the next 80 years as the Loch Ness Monster. C. Robots invading a youth activity and blasting us everywhere, but we turned into Pokemon and fought them off. (I was a Charizard.) D. A chemical being released into the worlds food that turns people into Pokemon, with infected people being taken into custody by the government. (This Troper was Serpirior.)
Just to name a few.
"Lucian, don’t be afraid, we’ll make it through this." Hide / Show RepliesLast night, I had a dream where I came down with a medical condition. This medical condition made it so my right eye's outer layer would slowly thicken over time until I couldn't see through it. So every once in a while I had to pull the eye from it's socket and PEEL it, like you would an orange or a hard boiled egg. So I'd peel it, until it was entirely raw and bloody, and then I'd jam it back into it's socket and blink away the blood and they're you had it, I could see with it again. Until the next time. But that wasn't the weird part. No, the weird part was that even though I had pulled the eye out so there was just an empty socket, I could still feel the eye as I peeled it. Not the empty hole, but the eye still in my hands. I could feel the peeling AS IT OCCURRED. It quite stung. Ever since I remembered having that dream, my right eye has felt a bit odd all day.
Desperate for feedback, please visit Troper Page for links! Hide / Show RepliesYou can put that in Troper Tales here:

Have you considered that that dream may have happened because there's actually something wrong with your eye and your subconscious is just incorporating that into your dreams?
Optimism is a duty.Anyone think we should add a Troper Tales page for this? Strange dreams are always a fun thing to share. Unless, of course, there's an already-existing better place I'm unaware of.
Hide / Show RepliesI was thinking the same thing! But then I love to talk/read about bizarre dreams, so.
Although just listing our strange dreams wouldn't quite fit the trope (the contrast between traditional interpretations of the concepts of "dreams" and "nightmares", and the weird crap that dreams actually are), I am wholly in favor of a Troper Tales page. Because that would be a fun read, and isn't that at least half of this site's purpose? Yes.
I think we may need a Laconic page and/or some extra description for this to clarify its meaning. Right now the content seems more like "Here's a list of weird dreams in fiction," while the description seems to imply it's the contrast of fiction's COMPARATIVELY normal "weird dreams" against how weird they get in reality.
