This really needs to be renamed. The Q-slur might have been reclaimed but a lot of lgbt, if not most, still hate it and will refuse to use it. I myself get panic attacks just reading the word, but i still feel the need to comment that it shouldn't be used here. LGBT romance would be a better term as it is an umbrella term with the same meaning without the attached history.

What about works with opposite-sex romance where one of the characters is queer (eg bi woman with a man?)

Is there any way this index could be renamed? "Queer" is still considered a slur by a number of people in the LGBT community and they're not comfortable being labeled as such.

Some of these I don't think can be called "works with romance as a major theme", AKA in particular. I have only specifically dedicated a considerable amount of time of watching gay movies with whatever gay(male) theme and so I'll be adding a bunch. Would anyone mind if I start separating the lesbian romances from the gay ones?

I'd say that's a bad idea, since there are too many grey areas. Also, considering Les Yay was merged with Ho Yay, I don't think TVT likes to differentiate gay/lesbian.

I don't understand why people DON'T want to differentiate them, it makes sense to at least differentiate them in queer type tropes. It's not like they are the same thing and have the same audience.

Because gay romance and lesbian romance tends to play out in the same way, within and outside the text. They use the same tropes and share the same history (e.g. older Queer Romances tending to be tragic). We don't, for example, sort Romantic False Lead examples by gender, because male and female RFLs have the same function, though there may be subtle differences.

Oh, I have a number of short films that could apply to this as well. A number of people, or a really big fan, shown me this: Eu Nao Quero Voltar Sozinho https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Wav5KjBHbI Anyone mind if I add those? I've already made the gay film list long enough probably.

Added redirects for Lesbian Romance and Gay Romance, similar to how Ho Yay is set up. Also, maybe its just where I was raised, but "queer" seems like an insult to me.

"Queer" is actually an accepted umbrella term for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, two-spirit (etc. etc. etc.) community. It used to be considered insulting and pejorative, but has since been reclaimed.
