Would a more downplayed instance count if the character is Incorruptible Pure Pureness* , but as a result, has a hard time connecting with others and is even a little bit unstable? Granted, s/he isn't outright evil, but not exactly an ideal model hero either.
Edited by StoogebieWould a more, er, physical example count? In Parks And Recreation, Chris Traeger's top physical form is played as a weakness fairly often; his purity of health makes him very susceptible to both contraction and the effects of contagious disease, for example.
I'm pretty sure this isn't an example, since Scooby is still a good guy. Also, "what you're looking for is the word sapient" is pretty much the embodiment of natter.
- In the live action Scooby Doo film, it is discovered that the Big Bad needs to consume a pure soul before he can become all-powerful. Turns out the pure soul he's after belongs to the cowardly, food-obsessed Scooby. Don't ask me how that works.
- He's a DOG. How the hell can he be tempted by evil? Also, he is loyal, giving and never lets down his friend. Not to mention being basically sentient. I don't see how the last part would help him be pure but it's impressive.
- All dogs (and other animals, at that) are sentient; the word you're looking for is sapient.

Would real life examples be counted as well?
Not all dreams are meant to come true, otherwise there would be a lot of dead people.Moving this here. Example plus Justifying edit, plus counter-edit, plus counter-counter edit means it needs to be sorted out here, not on the main page.
- The Imperium and Eldar of Warhammer 40000 embody this trope. Of course, impurity is no better in the universe.
- To be fair, even a slight mutation like a funny eye colour is actually evidence of possession by the great old ones, demonic gods.
- It actually isn't. Just a genetic quirk most of the time, and even the more twisted mutations are a result of the Imperial policy on pollution - there isn't one. Real Chaos mutations are a league apart.
- Of course, that won't save you from being condemned to a brutal death as a mutant for evincing even said slight mutation. Assuming you haven't been killed by something else first. [[Blackand Grey Morality It's that kind of universe.]
So, I just read that this page falls under No Real Life Examples Please category. Although I understand the underlying reason, I wonder if we can include somewhere that in Real Life nature, several elements/components can be very dangerous to life when pure.
Maybe the best example is water: Mandatory for life, and yet if overly distilled to its purest state, can rid our body of useful trace minerals by way of osmosis, eventually causing health problems.
Oxygen is a borderline case also; many organism, and practically all multicellular organisms, breathe oxyegn to live, and yet if breathed in in higher than normal concentration can prove fatal.
Besides, Bright Is Not Good has a Real Life section, which has a disclaimer that it should include scientific examples only. I wonder if we can include the same thing here.
What's your thought on this?
EDIT:
- sigh* Where's that Delete button when I need it? Anyway, After some time I realize the folly of this post; This trope is more about moral purity, so whatever babbling I made up there is all invalid. Basically I got my own answer, so thanks for reading :)
