this page needs a stereotypical image of a prog rock band, e.g. some band with long hair and glittery capes
Hide / Show RepliesEven that assumes that the reader knows of that stereotype. If that could be combined with some ridiculously huge stage backdrop that depicts an outer space or medieval setting, or shows said band playing together with an orchestra, it would be much more complete.
Get a screen at pretty much any moment in 'A Farewell to Kings' by Rush. Medieval setting? Check. Long hair and glittery capes? Check. Alex Lifeson playing in a bush? Check.
I've often thought of Santana as progressive—especially their early epic jams like "Soul Sacrifice" and even very extended covers like "Fried Neckbones and Some Home Fries" or "Jingo". It was Latin fusion for the most part, which showcased instrumental and improvisational talent as progressive music generally does.
