I guess that this not qualifies as a subversion. In most examples of Prince Charming, the history never pretends that the prince in question is a Prince Charmless.

In both Once Upon a Time and Into The Woods the princes aren't ideal romantic princes. In Once Upon a Time Snow sarcastically calls him charming and in Into The Woods the main prince can't be faithful. The fairy tale idea is making a comeback but I would like to see a charmingly ideal prince in a story sometime.
Anyone else think this trope seems to be making a bit of a comeback? With the success of Once Upon a Time which features a lot of prince characters, Rapunzel's prince getting Adaptational Heroism in Into the Woods and Kit in Film/Cinderella2015 - does it look like Prince Charmless has now become the cliche and it's the new subversion to see a heroic prince?
