The newscaster trope described seems not to be neoconservative at all. I encourage the initial author to actually read the Useful Notes section on neocons that they link to. They are socially liberal, fiscally moderate, and interventionist on foreign policy. Which has little or nothing to do with neocons in particular— it's more accurate to say it's a parody/straw man version of conservatives, not neocons.
The trope should be either renamed or merged with one of the larger War on Straw articles.
Hide / Show RepliesYipes. No kidding. I guess in my circles the word "neocon" has become divorced from its original meaning.
Ok, yeah, this needs a rename and description rewrite. I can do the latter right away.
Edited by 216.99.32.42This is a very, very common misconception. Thanks for fixing it.
Maybe "Eagleland Newscaster"?
Update: The TRS decided to broaden the definition beyond just conservative pundits. Now working on a new title.
Neocon Newscaster was renamed and broadened to Pompous Political Pundit per TRS. YKTTW
