I found an interesting piece of Islamic folklore http://www.jasoncolavito.com/blog/islamic-creationist-pre-human-megalithic-civilization-ruled-earth-before-adam

"One of the races that is most similar to man is that of the Wakwak. These individuals hang from branches by their hair; they have breasts and sexual organs similar to those of women, and they have a ruddy complexion; they constantly shout “Wak Wak!”, and if one of these females is captured, it goes silent and falls dead."

I'm thinking this image might be funnier and more illustrative for the page, with the caption and note "Image! Image, image image image!", along with the note "Guess what each character's name is from looking at the image. We'll give you five seconds."

Anyone agree?

I'm a bit confused on the wording of this sentence (in the "Pokemon" entry under the Video Games section of the Pokémon Speak page)...I get that Pikachu says its own name in some Pokémon games, but the first part of the sentence is giving me a headache; I don't understand what the Japanese Pokemon names have to do with anything:

Their Japanese names, at least, sometimes and Pikachu has said "Pikachu" in some games.

If anyone could help reword this a bit, that would be appreciated.

Think this should be changed to Single Word Vocabulary, with a Single Phrase redirect? A couple of these examples are non-name. Besides, as I've said before, the current name might sound stupid to people who aren't that into Pokemon.

Why was the Self-Demonstration removed? I found it very amusing. What was wrong with it?

Apparently, it's been brought back, but the "Tropeinese" paragraph needs work, as the "actual" English paragraph has had new links added and so forth... I might be able to work on it eventually, if time permits.

I think Pokémon Speak should just cover being able to say one word, and should be a variation on a larger, more general trope on Extremely Limited Vocabularies.
Any thoughts?

Think we should rename this to something less-specific? The Pokemon reference may make it hard to take seriously.

This clearly needs to be added to Self-Demonstrating Article, but I have neither the knowledge of how to do this, nor the time to find out how. Could someone please oblige?

I hate many things, some more than others. So there are some things that, on a good day, I can just about stand. Others, like character limi Hide / Show Replies

It's not a Self-Demonstrating Article anymore, but it should be!

Doesn't seem to me that Wall-E fits this. As far as I can remember, the 'bots mostly used to call out their own names when introducing themselves and such. Can anyone give an example of out-of-context name usage?
