Does this trope also cover situations where the defenders of say a castle will open the doors and charge the numerically superior enemy despite having a better chance of winning by staying inside the defenses using long range weapons? or is that more rule of cool and rule of drama? There should be a "the best defense is a bad offense" or something.
Edit: It's late and I'm tired but after rereading I'm not sure if I understand this trope the way I thought so If I'm not making any sense with all this you should probably ignore me.
