I personally despise Childhood Friend Romance, particularily because of how stock and played out it is to me. It just isnt that intriguing or interesting.
See? Now they're gone, forever gone from the hell that served as my one and only homePer TRS, this is now In-Universe Examples Only.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass. Hide / Show RepliesIn addition, on-page examples are no longer forbidden:

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.I just want to say my pet peeve tropes:
- True Art Is Angsty (What's good if there's no positive thing in that work...?)
- Darkness-Induced Audience Apathy (Why should I care if the characters are evil or they will screwed up/doomed at the end...?)
- Blamed for Being Railroaded (I must commit a sin/do something extremely bad or wrong to progress the story... WTH...?)
- But Thou Must! (unless one or more choices lead you to good things)
- Playing The Player (Tricking players with twists is OK if it happens only once or twice for me however...)
Does this really need to be example-free? There's a number of tropes that are very, very common examples of this, like Black Comedy Rape or Politically Incorrect Hero.
Hide / Show RepliesThose usually have some reason that makes them less a personal thing and more a general thing, such as Unacceptable Targets or Once Acceptable Targets or a Sacred Cow or another such thing.
Couldn't this include tropes that creators have said they hate?
Keet cleanupWould this trope also apply to authors if Word of God states why a specific trope is never used in their work? What about non-trope examples, like if an author doesn't like motorcycles and that's why none of the main cast is seen riding a motorcycle or why so many motorcycles get blown up in the story?
Why does even exist?
Tropes aren't liked or disliked. We have a whole page about this; Tropes Are Tools.
Audiences dislike when tropes are used poorly, not the tropes themselves.
The site's stance is that tropes themselves cannot be good or bad, only used well or poorly. Having a page like this seems contradictory to that.
Edited by Zoroark69 Hide / Show RepliesTropes can very well be disliked. Tropes Are Tools describes what tropes are, not a completely bogus claim about what people think of them.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanAs a trope to be linked in discussions. TV Tropes is not just an examples repository, after all.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanOkay, why is this a YMMV? If it's a trope that someone doesn't like, it's just that. A trope that someone doesn't like. How is it a matter of mileage if it applies or not? Is it just because it's an opinion to the character?
Hide / Show RepliesMy Pet-Peeve Tropes are True Art Is Angsty, and to a lesser extent, Darkness-Induced Audience Apathy. Yes, several acclaimed works do have dark stuff once in a while (i.e. some of my favorite movies and shows), but these two tropes are where the line has been crossed.
Edited by 67.186.44.137 Hide / Show RepliesHere are my Pet Peeve Tropes: Getting Crap Past the Radar (But their funny sometimes) and Accidental Inuendo (If I end up doing this, expect me to cry)
So, is the troper tales page finally lost forever?
Edited by CHANDELUREFANre: Cutlisting.
This page has a particular, definite point. It's about defining a name for a problem inherent in some tropes (particularly ones with Unfortunate Implications, such as Bury Your Gays). The problem with Troper Tales was very specific, and had nothing to do with the main page, which, again, only provides a name for the phenomena.
Edited by Luc Hide / Show RepliesThe Wayback Machine should have it, if you really want to move them to your contributor.
Edited by TheOneWhoTropes Keeper of The Celestial FlameThanks. I'll try that. *sigh* I still really want the page back, but...I'd rather have a list up somewhere than nowhere at all, you know? Even an isolated one.
Edited by ProgenyExMachinaWhy was the troper tales page nuked? There was no reason for it.
Hide / Show RepliesProbably because it got too whiny. Then again that's to be expected of Troper tales
Edited by Marioguy128 You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!Well, if the TT page is now gone, then is there any point to keeping the main page?
Because a) the TT pages are not gone and b) it's still an audience reaction. I think the better question is, why did you necro an old discussion?...
Right now this page has been nuked once more. Is something wrong?
Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/TheDsMan1Oh god, someone please tell me this isn't permanent. This was my favorite page, dammit! I worked hard on that! Where else am I going to catalogue the tropes that piss me off?!
On your tropers page, if you really feel that strongly about them.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.
I've got plenty of my own.
- Sacred Cow (there are plenty of works I find highly overrated, such as The Empire Strikes Back, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and the Ace Combat games for the PS2, all of which I don't really find worth the hype or praise)
- Creator Worship (we all have our heroes we are fans of, but honestly, I find this unhealthy)
- Complete Monster (especially if there's one who's a minor or one-shot character that has very little to do with the plot or work, such as the Door Gunner from Full Metal Jacket and especially if there's one who is a Karma Houdini)
- Karma Houdini (I really want to see the villain get punished for his actions, I've had enough of the innocent suffering and the guilty roaming free)
- True Art Is Angsty (Not everything has to be depressing to be good)
- Trolling Creator and Lying Creator (Then that pretty much makes out the creator to be a Jerkass)
- Caustic Critic (Most of the time, they are Jerkasses)
- Cerebus Syndrome (Why do we need to go Darker and Edgier for no reason? Anime tends to do this shit all the time, and it pisses me off!)
- Wangst (This is yet another problem with anime, when is there not a time when they whine about every little thing every five seconds?)
- Never Trust a Trailer (Between this and Trailers Always Spoil, I find the latter to be the lesser of two evils when it comes to making trailers. Better to be spoiled than to be misled.)
- An Asskicking Christmas (There have been way too many movies or video games set on Christmas or whatever holiday these days. Just set it on a regular day for once!)
- Dragon Their Feet (I'd rather have the Final Battle be with the Big Bad, not The Dragon. It just feels too anti-climactic.)
- Easy-Mode Mockery (This feels like a big middle finger to casual gamers.)
- Ship Tease (Why do we need to shoehorn some romance?)
- Ho Yay (An up and down pet peeve of mine, but I feel like there's just too much of it at times...)
- Glurge (There is nothing "inspirational" with these kinds of stories. How can something so sickening, disgusting, teach you a lesson or be "inspirational"?)
