Is this really what a pastiche is? I thought it was a work which imitates another work, without actually commenting on whether it's good or bad or stupid or not. It certainly does not have to be funny beyond the audiences' giggle of recognition.

Agreed. The Weird Al example uses the term 'pastiche' correctly, but the trope description doesn't.

Sometimes seen with a "526" after my name.
