In the "Other" folder it lists the line "If you've just tuned it..." on it's own. I don't get it, most of these things don't creep me out, but I can understand how they scare other people as I am much braver than most people. But this one I'm just lost on. How could that line possibly count as paranoia fuel?

Think about it: What if you have just tuned in as someone on your TV/Radio/etc. says that. They know you've just tuned in, because they're watching you.

What about Kenneth Thompson's Reflections on Trusting Trust?

What if the program that generates all other programs is modified, to insert backdoors into all of the programs it creates? What if it inserts the modifications into itself, so that you cannot create a "clean" copy? What if it also modifies all other programs in a way that prevents it all from being discovered, by hiding the changes when you try to view them?

What if your entire operating system was silently infected and self-infecting from the moment you got your computer, and there was no way to tell if it was?

The true paranoia fuel of it is that it was proven that it can be done over 25 years ago, leaving plenty of time for someone to use a similar attack to infiltrate every system in the world...

Oh, and some CP Us themselves might be reprogrammable, or other bits of hardware, so *no* system can be proven to be safe...

It's been done at least once for real: http://www.sophos.com/en-us//threat-center/threat-analyses/viruses-and-spyware/W32~Induc-A.aspx

...on the plus side, at least that implementation has been caught. It's a terrifying theory, but close to impossible to pull off in practice.

Would medical websites such as Web MD count? They're definitely hypochondria fuel.

I say this just having read about vaginal prolapse. *shudder*

Rule of fanworks reviews: The amount of constructive criticism a work receives is in inverse proportion to the amount it needs.

What was the "Hello, Joseph. I still know where you live" spoiler for? Since my real name is Joseph, I was very disturbed.

Same for me. Instead of Joseph, it has Adrian, which is my name. I don't have any idea how they got it, but that scared me.

Paranoia Fuel.. in msot cases I can't help but think that I'd rather have a nice heaping helping of High Octane Nightmare Fuel, thank you very much.. but now that Foldger's commercial, happy mornings? Gods, I can't help but think of a freaking army of Bucky Larsons of both genders, come to annoy humanity into submission.. I think it's those so-called "Happy" faces that just resemble way too many Joker Gas created smiles...

" Severus Snape is shown to have exhibited mannerisms of this caliber as a child. To elaborate, he is described as watching children ( in the particular memory, Harry's mother) playing from bushes, "undisguised greed in his face." Make of that what you will."

Really? One instance of young Snape looking at the one child who can do what he can and who symbolises a happier world outside his abusive home, with the same expression Resurrection Stone!Lily has when she looks at Harry? I know some people hate him, but come on - this is laughable.

I'm doing some major cleaning up of the page, removing anything that looks like it doesn't belong here: Natter, examples that don't match the page description, X Just X examples with or without the "just X" part (that is, examples consisting of just the title of a work, unless the paranoia factor is in the title itself — think "The Murderous Teddybears"), and so on.
