Does this page actually condone doxxing or am I misreading it? Everywhere I've been on the internet the sentiment has been that no matter how bad things get you don't dox.

Besides, the entry about trolls and doxxing doesn't fit because the trolls aren't doxxing others.

Had a thought, but I'm not sure if it fits here or not.

  • Carelessly invoking Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse can trip over this fallacy. Of course you can't accept someone's past pain as a justification for their actions and attitudes - you've never felt that pain yourself, and can't guarantee that you wouldn't respond the same way if you had. On the flipside, if someone who's never been through what you did claims that your past trauma doesn't matter as much as you feel it does, how well would you take it?

Does anyone have a source for the page quote? A google search mostly just turned up tvtropes.

This is what I got when I asked the same question in the YKTTW thread:

"It was my .signature on Usenet once. I believe he was talking to his wife. I Googled it and most of the references are to my signature. The ones that weren't say it was at a "social function" which doesn't help, and don't say who he was talking to. It is apparently from one of his F&SF essays (not that that narrows it down much); it definitely wasn't from a piece of fiction. "

Added Conversation said to have taken place at some social function, so the dialogue at least doesn't hang in thin air.
