Is it still this trope if a third party Shipper on Deck (possibly the person they go on the date with) comes up with the idea and executes it, without either of them knowing? For example, Charlie is sick of Alice and Bob's inability to express their feelings, so he tells one or both of them that the other one has a date, and makes sure they go to the date with the intent of "winning them back" or something.

Except...a boy I know pulled an operation jealousy on me, to prove that I was his type and he wasn't into blonds and a whole of other stuff. This has happened in real life... HMMMPF
