Is there a subtrope similar to Dropped After the Pilot, but when it wasn't the pilot? When there was a character who was introduced in one episode and then was intended to become a main or recurring character, but for some reasons didn't.

Made the empty page "Character of the Day" into a redirect. Seems to be a distinction without a difference. (Highly Notable CotDs fall under One-Scene Wonder.)

I think this page should probably be renamed since 'One Shot Character' while accurate, doesn't seem to be common parlance. In a sense 'Character of the Day/Week' was more appropriate, or as i know the trope, they'd be a 'Guest Star', but between Special Guest, Celebrity Star and any number of x of the Week, there doesn't seem to be a Trope for the good old guest star and there's a hell of a lot of shows not to mention actors that thrive on them- a lot of Hey Its That Guy s
