• The Incredibles: It's never fully explained how the Big Bad, Syndrome, got his Island Lair, nor how he could afford all those henchmen, or the supplies to build his robots. While one could argue that he made all that money by patenting and selling his inventions, Syndrome himself states he intends to do that in the future, meaning he hasn't done anything like that yet.
  • When he has Mr. Incredible suspended in his zero-point ray, he claims he "kept the best stuff for himself, implying he's made his fortune by selling high-tech but maybe more traditional armaments.
  • In fairness, he does say that countries pay him "Through the nose" for his invention, so that's probably an explanation.

It's explicitly stated that Syndrome sold weapons and whatnot to various world governments, although he didn't tell any of them everything he invented.

In some fridge logic, what would said governments have said when a massive, complex machine showed up and started stomping things, and only the known gadgeteer genius with multiple contracts for war gadgets could stop it? At least until the machine got too smart for Syndrome.
