Could this trope count in a case of adultery rather than murder? In particular, I'm thinking of a scene from The Ghost and Mrs. Muir when the protagonist discovers the man she thought was going to propose to her has a wife and kids. The wife, realizing who she is, says "This isn't the first time this has happened."

^ I think that would count as a variant, esp given that it's an older piece of media.
