This description seems to be using sympathy and empathy as though they mean the same thing. Can we fix that?

Sympathy is concern and compassion stemming from understanding, empathy is being able to perceive and understand anothers emotions. Sympathy may require empathy, empathy doesn't necessarily denote sympathy- someone who accurately gauges anothers emotions and then manipulates them could still be considered empathic. My understanding, at least.
