Sometimes, when a party is not mentioned but there are enough clues to make party affiliation obvious, it's filed with the straight examples, and sometimes with the aversions. Which is it?
I'm not sure about the trope image. Yes, The Thick of It avoids naming the parties, but "The Leader of the Opposition" is an official title, so calling Tucker "Advisor to the Leader of the Opposition" makes exactly as much sense as calling him "Advisor to the Prime Minister" when his party's in power.
