"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman- Was a large part, although hidden, in the Ender's Game series. Specifically in Ender's Shadow: Bean was the only survivor of 20-odd children. He then grew up to assist in the total destruction of the only other sentient species.
As described, this is not an example. The trope is "only surviving child grows up to defeat the person who killed the other children", not "only surviving child goes up to kill someone who had nothing to do with it".
If Bean does grow up to defeat the person who killed the other children (I haven't read all the Ender's Shadow sequels, so I don't know), then that would be an example, but the description would have to be appropriately rewritten before being put back on the page.
Can we consider changing the name? This looks like a ridiculously bad snowclone.
Hide / Show RepliesYes, but you'd have to bring it up in the Trope Repair Shop.

Why exactly is this restricted to children, rather than anyone prophesied to defeat the bad guy?
