In S 2 E 13 of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Time Squared, they encounter a NSW that very much looks and behaves a lot like a space tornado, despite the claims of the image text. It's really more of a whirlpool, I suppose.

Is it Negative Space - Wedgie, as in a wedgie from an object made out of negative space, or is it Negative - Space Wedgie, the inverse of a space wedgie?

Neither. It's a technobabble term.

Am I the only one who thinks the name might need to be changed to something a little more trope-apropriate? This is a trope about something bad to do with space right? Well the name sounds like the name for a childish prank variant.

I agree, but for differnt reasons. The trope discription and how it is used are entirely different.

Discription: Just annother random threat IN SPACE! (I.E. Lost Technology, Space Whale)

How It is Used: Something has screwed with space and time, Intentional or unintentional and is causing problems.
