Isn't this trope a tad bit silly? I mean, if there were to be any adverse effects they would be incurred immediately. Similarly, the Human brain can hold anywhere between 10 Terabytes to 2.5 Petabytes of information. That's a LOT of space to fill. The worst things that would happen would be difficulty accessing the memories, near instantaneous madness (however unlikely), and near instant death. The most likely being the first option. Similar to having too many files and sub-files, the more information you have the more difficult it will be to find many things. Problem is with that is "along with all the intellect, memories and wisdom needed to use it." is part of the trope. That means you are smart enough to not have any problems. It essentially makes your brain the most efficient thing ever so you can use the knowledge gained. In all likelihood, nothing bad would actually happen if you didn't die instantly.

Your thoughts?

From the thread-mode discusison it appears this is not an example.

  • Alpha from Dollhouse was driven insane when fourty eight different personalities were simultaneously uploaded into his head.  * In a less fatal way, this is an integral part of the series' entire premise.
    • Also, we learn that Alpha started out insane. It wasn't the composite event that drove him mad (that just made him brilliant), he was already a psychotic killer. Topher just assumed it was the composite event. Although, he does seem to struggle to cope with so many thoughts swirling through his head at once, and it does cause him to have strange ticks.
      • Alpha: "I'm not fooling." "He's not kidding!" "We're not bluffing!" "I'm bluffing." "But the rest of us!" "We mean business."
