I've always pronounced it like "spook," but I have nothing to base it on.
What's with the angry tone of the article? Seems to be a lot of complaining about having these guys be mowed down by the heroes. We have a different trope for that.

Cryptic Mirror add mean streets as an example it should be in there if it is possible Trope Namer.

and special zombies like Tank or Witch as elite mooks.
I'd prefer the term "henchmen" myself.
