Is there an equivalent of this for non-video games? IE, a creative choice is made in a movie, TV series, comic, etc, that's meant to be to make it more realistic but actually breaks suspension of disbelief further?

Like, for example, The Dark Knight Rises replaced Bane's super-steroid Venom with a "super anaesthetic", explaining his One-Man Army status as a result of him being unable to feel pain. But they then never address the negative side effects or how being unable to feel pain would be detrimental to his ability to fight because he's unable to avoid injury and likely end up suffering serious internal injury from the blows he tanks.

On a similar note, a trend followed after those films has been for superheroes to replace their spandex with plated armour, even the characters who are typically Fragile Speedster types (like Nightwing). The idea is that it's more practical as it offers more protection, but the plates would be limiting their movement and reducing the hero's ability to dodge, thus ensuring that they get shot more, while no plated armour in real life would survive the kind of gunfire they encounter. It also has other unintended problems like being harder to maintain, repair, and replace, and thus requires even more handwaves to justify.

Also in the same area, the DC Cinematic Universe had a number of these because of Zack Snyder's obsession with what he considers realism. Case in point, he tossed out Batman's Thou Shalt Not Kill philosophy because 'real heroes would kill', but this in turn brings up other problems (Joker Immunity is still in place, so Batman is killing random thugs but not a Complete Monster like The Joker, despite confirmation Joker killed his son).

These seem like the same kind of trope, creator trying to be more realistic but fucking it up with their lack of foresight, and there's probably also plenty of examples outside of the superhero medium, so I'm wondering if there's any kind of Misaimed "Realism"-type trope for non-video game examples?

"FATAL has this all over the place, with most of the examples doing more to illustrate the... prurient interests of the game's writers than actually build realism. In one specific (work-safe) example, there's a massive table of organs that can be struck by a critical hit."

I was so confused until I realized that this didn't mean a large wooden table with a massive pile of organs on it.
