The Empire Strikes Back, I know it's popular to call that a legit Villain Victory, but if you think about it.

What about during the "Big Girls Don't Cry" arc of the webcomic "Eerie Cuties" and the the first part of the following one, "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun?" Melissa Hellrune and her posse, Jacqui and Cerise, plot to break up Layla and Kade by using the Orb of Tiresias to change one of them into a guy and have "him" kiss Layla and use the picture of it to break them up. Blair, the living toy doll, uses it to swap a lot of the students' genders—guys to gals mostly. It causes Blair's darker side to come out as he wanted to turn all the students into blonde, buxom girls all slaved to him.

The orb is destroyed, but one "girl," the former Ace "Puppy" Wolfheart, isn't changed back (she was outside the area of effect when the spell was reversed).

In the chaos, the plan works...but the cost would be too high.

The "Magick Chicks," the Queen Bees of Charybdis High would get "volunteered" to the Interschool Transfer Program with Artemis Academny. Meaning they lost their status at Charybdis, and a lot of what they valued there was gone.

To a teenage girl, to work so hard for social status and power and have to lose it all when thing got that much out of control, would be enough to cause her to wonder, "Was it really worth it?"

Even if this set up for a spin-off strip with them as the stars (they didn't know it though) they were honestly scared when they heard about it—and more shocked when they found their "girl power" didn't work at Artemis (it was an all-girls' school with a President who could outdo it might suggested, Nabiki Tendo of Ranma 1/2 herself, though there was no cash involved, just power).
