I think it could be argued that it's a very Ur-Example; it definitely doesn't fit the trope and predates it but there's similarities?
But regardless of whether it counts as a Ur-Example (which even though I've made that statement, I'm unconvinced) it's definitely non-indicative to have it as a page image.

Tic-Tac-Toe (which provides the page image) is not an example. The trope description clearly states that you match objects and they are eliminated. No elimination in Tic-Tac-Toe.
It also completely violates the spirit of the trope as provided in order to make a bad joke about "matching three," when it is completely unlike any other example on the page. The symbols in Tic-Tac-Toe aren't being matched, they're marking each player's territory. The trope is not "get three of something to win."
