Though some heroes do go about wearing masks, they tend to be Anti Heroes, or at least a little edgy.

Whoever put that in the description probably had specific characters in mind, but I don't think most people would consider the Lone Ranger, the Scarlet Pimpernel, Zorro, Captain America, the Flash, the Green Lantern, Spider-Man etc. to be antiheroes or particularly edgy.

Would face-paint count? Because I'm thinking of adding Avatar The Last Airbender's Kyoshi Warriors as heroic examples.
