I have just uploaded as the illustrative image a screencap from "Mulan" where in the song "Reflection" she has wiped off half the makeup that was put on her during her pre-matchmaker makeover. However, this may not be the best image to illustrate the trope as, while it represents a moment when the makeover has become symbolic of the role being imposed on her, the idea of the makeover being a "fail" does not seem to be played completely straight throughout the relevant sequences (I marked down the Mulan example as a "played with" one.) Would anyone care to comment, or else to replace the image with one of a more blatant makeover fail?
