Semantics: Is anyone else bothered by the fact that a lowest common denominator is usually a very high number (at least as high as the highest of the set, but often much higher) [f.e. the lowest common denominator of (single digit) numbers 1 through 6 is 30]. What people probably meant was highest common divisor (a number that's in contrast low, but for the exact same reason), but then people got confused by the word "lowest" in it.

Can't the alternative be described a little better? It's not necessary elitist to equate the "lowest common denominator" strategy to producing lowbrow idiocy. Just because you think a show is filled with stuff requiring little to no thought and full of vulgarity in order to appeal to the LCD doesn't necessarily mean you think that most, or even any, of the audience is that stupid or corrupt; it just means you think the producers think that. True, some people may complain about the LCD because they think Viewers Are Morons, but many are simply tired of the actual producers aiming so low and insulted that they seem to think that the human race is that stupid.
