Would other types of love fit in here, too? For example, if a child saw their parents as loving and caring, and loved them for what a parent is supposed to be and represent, while the actual parent was cold, uncaring, and abusive? Or would that be Stockholm Syndrome?

According to the mockumentary, of Tropic Thunder, Lazarus had actually brought the real life family of Lincoln Osiris to stay with him to get deeper into character. He and the widow seemed to have some weird connection.

Does that count as loving a shadow?
