The main description says it's "a good, maybe amazing song". The laconic admittedly omits that, but the rest does make it sound like someone has to care it was wasted.

Removed this:

** Both of the ~Nintendo GameCube~ games (Colosseum and Gale of Darkness) contain this rather awesome tune. It plays only during Semifinal matches at the Colosseum, and nowhere else, ever. The other tracks from the Colosseum can all be heard elsewhere, just not this song; shame it's one of the best songs on the soundtrack.
  • On a further note, Colosseum starts your first battle with this awesome battle theme, and then shifts it to something not-so-awesome after you pass the first town.
  • Speaking of that, the trainer you fight in that battle makes an appearance in XD, and you get to fight him again - to the exact same music! Then again, much of the music from Colosseum was ported over to XD as well...

The reason is that they're both in Mt. Battle as well.

  • The First Trainer battle theme is also used for Area 1 trainers (up to and including Vander). Of course, those doing the challenge only want to fight them to get to the next level, so that one may still be an example.
  • The Semifinal Battle music is played during the battles for all trainers in areas 7, 8, and 9, as well as most of 10! Which makes this as wasted song for an entirely different reason.

Is it just me, or does the page quote not really fit the trope? After all, the song is heard in game and most players will get to hear all of it, so it's hardly wasted in the sense that this trope applies to. And by the way, this wasn't meant as a response to the above entry...I didn't notice the "New Topic" button until after I posted this. :-P

So like, if a TV show has an awesome ending theme but they always cover it up with the ad for the next show, is that the same thing? Adventure Time comes to mind.

I would say so, but that's just me.

I've asked this before, I know, but is there a graphical version of this trope? Things like Leknaat's tower in Suikoden come to mind, and I just know there are others.

This includes the Kimono Girls in Gold, Silver and Crystal, who even have their own battle theme that can only be heard when fighting them.

Can anyone provide an example of this? I think I remember this, but looking up videos doesn't show the Kimono girls having their own battle theme. Just an intro theme.

They use the regular Johto battle music in the originals and the remakes.

Edit: I corrected it. I also corrected the Animal Crossing entries earlier today.
