Removed from the article

  • El Goonish Shive did a joke about this as well, when Justin heavily intimated that watching women's volleyball was inherently homosexual.
    • Though this may have been a lot less "jock" and a lot more "bouncy boobs." Obviously, there are people who watch women's volleyball for other reasons, but...

Repair, don't respond.

The example needs more context to make it clear is fits the trope.

You know, I'm thinking the true Spear Counterpart to this Trope would be guys who, because they're into ballet, figure skating, or other dance-based activities, are presumed gay. While Gym Bunny might be a Super-Trope of that, saying that a Gym Bunny is the Spear Counterpart to this would mean that a Lesbian Jock would be in to any kind of sport, not just the so-called "masculine" ones.

What's with deleting all the 'lesbian cop' examples? There were a sizable amount and it's a fairly common stereotype. 'lolwut' is not an acceptable edit reason.

I think someone can go ahead and replace the information that was deleted on 16th Oct 2010 by Anthony Alexander. I'll try to do it if there's no objection from a moderator.

Interesting how perceptions differ accross countries. This article appears to reflect a North American perpective - that the possibility of being an out lesbian in tennis is 50:50.

In Britain, this is viewed with a cynical sort of 1:1 certainty - so much so that comedians use "tennis player" as a synonym for "actively lesbian", and everyone gets the inference!

The negative picture this presented of womens' tennis got to be such a problem that the British Lawn Tennis Association sank a lot of money into a counter-information campaign designed to reassure parents that their daughters were safe, and would only learn to play tennis from professional coaches who had the best interests of their charges at heart.

And then the BLTA engaged a lady called Claire Lyte as a coach. Who at her subsequent trial pleaded guilty to seducing a string of thirteen year old girls, given into her care for tennis lessons....
