Is it considered a a Last Villian Stand if it is say The Dragon or the last of the Quirky Mini-boss Squad and they are simply trying to stall the hero?
Okay, I gotta ask. Is Emporer Grumm's last fight a correct example from Power Rangers SPD?(and if applicabble, its Sentai counterpart)
Quest 64 thread Hide / Show RepliesActually, I'm surprised no one has mentioned that one yet. I'd say it's exactly the same scenario I used in my description.
re:cut
I don't really have any issue with the title. The title description and sole example seem to go well together. I also get the feeling I have encountered this so if somebody could come up with an extra pair of examples then it could be worth keeping.
Hide / Show RepliesIt should be Villain Last Stand to be grammatical. And the article was unarguably launched prematurely, with no YKTTW. I think it's a trope, it just needs more work, which is what YKTTW is for.
Edited by Fighteer "It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Never launched, anyway. Zapping this in favor of a longer YKTTW and proper launch.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyWell, I think I gave it a proper launch this time. As for the name, it means the final villain taking a one man stand.
Edited by Eddy1215Eddy1215, read Three Rules Of Three. a YKTTW is supposed to stay in YKTTW for three days.
Also, this is a horrible title, Why not Villain Last Stand, which is, ya know, correct and doesn't sound as bad,
Eddy, you're pushing awfully close to the edge of tolerance. We already told you it was a bad name and your article was cut once, so next time take more care before launching. We're going to end up renaming it anyway, so you just wasted a lot of people's time.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"What is wrong with the name? The description of it doesn't infer that it's a Villainous Last Stand. I call it a Last Villain Stand because it infers that the last villain remaining is taking a one man stand! LAST Villain Stand? Do you get it now?! And for the record, I thought I was following the rules. The YKTTW has been up since Monday.
Go defend your name on the forum then, just click the icon in the top corner of the article's main page.
Personally I understand what you were trying to make it sound like, but the result is akward, sounds like a word salad. Villain's Last Stand has the advantage of conveying the same message, and being grammatically clear.
Edited by GhilzFor the record, when I was working on the YKTTW, I tried the name Big Bad's Last Stand, but Some Sort Of Troper commented that he believed it was fine the way it was. This was his explanation:
I'll elaborate on that last point: part of it is to not encourage trope decay of the term Big Bad. That's for the sort of guy who can say "Everything that has transpired in this trope has done so according to my design." and who has been controlling a series of events for some time and who acts as a sort of ultimate villain over all the villains. It's very popular with episodic series that get a final villain for the overall season. We're not really trying to bring that trope in here, so let's not confuse things.
The other part is just the length and the concision of Last Villain Stand. On top of that, to me, it makes the villain seem more alone and depleted of numbers which is a key element of the trope.
