I'm going to argue that the Undertale example doesn't belong, since that's not time-delay, that's poison. And while the poison will stop at 1 HP, Sans himself doesn't give a damn and will dunk you regardless of how much HP you have left. Asriel's final attack against you would be a better example.

I have a feeling that this applies to Seiken Densetsu 3, since at times, when a character is dealt a critical blow, he/she is given a single hit point for a momentary last chance to be healed before collapsing.

I know what you're talking about, but not sure it's an example.

  • If a character is in the middle of readying a spell when KO, they'll remain at 1 HP just long enough to fire off the spell, then collapse with zero HP.
  • When a character suffers a lethal blow, they're thrown across the field and seem to bounce a few times with their HP at one. Sometimes if you're quick enough you can toss an item onto them and restore their HP without an actual KO, but barring that, they'll still collapse with zero HP.

Rule of thumb: If an attack reduces a character to one HP and then zero, as part of the same hit, it's not an example.
