Bo-Katan from Star Wars rebels isn't a great example because she's not a commoner like Frodo. She's the sister of the former ruling Dutchess.

When the Ghost crew and Fenn Rau bow before Sabine in Trials of the Darksaber is closer, though she's still, albeit disgraced, nobility.

Man should this trope be spoilered or not? Cuz there are a bunch of them that are and a bunch of them that aren't and this thing seems spoilery by nature.

I don't know that the Ramayana example should count. Sure Rama is a king, but Hanuman is a god. OK, Rama's also an Avatar of Vishnu. But it's not really a king bowing to commoner situation.

Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere.
