I haven't read the books but I'm not clear how the Hunger Games example works. Katniss volunteers to be part of games ... and becomes part of the games? That doesn't seem like an "everyday decision" leading to unexpected consequences, whatever her motives were. (I'm also unsure about the Forrest Gump examples for the same reason; although Gump seems to present these as everyday decisions, it seems more like he's being asked "Are you interested in The Call?")

Would Watch_Dogs count? The plot is ultimately kicked off because Aiden and Damien attempt the Merlaut job on the same day that Iraq tries to steal the Rushmore Blackmail. Had they chosen a different day, the Club would never have come after Aiden, leading to him becoming the Fox.
