This happens endlessly in Pokemon. Id put it in but the examples are of staggering amount. "You'll never find the second windworks key, because another member has it in Floaroma Town!"
Its always the villainous team that gives the information away. Its often coupled with the reveal that this particular grunt has no idea what the team is for or their goal.
