I read the story a couple months ago and the way I understood it was that AM hates us because we built him to feel nothing but hate. AM is well aware of this fact, which makes him hate us even more because he realizes that this makes him incapable of being anything more than a weapon. He wouldn't necessarily choose to be anything else, it's just that AM is denied making that choice for himself.

I'm confused, the article says AM only controls the area inside itself, but it also mentions them going on a thousands-of-miles trek while not dying.

The inside of AM is really, really huge

Basically, AM has completely tunneled out the Earth's crust, upper mantle, and the story implies at least part of the mantle.

I've seen someone in a Lets Play complete the game with 4 characters. (After missing the important item in Benny's level). Does this mean the Banned in China example is wrong?

The editor didn't feel it accurately represented the story, especially since it comes at its denouement. Personally, I feel that the "hottip natter" at least got out of hand (read: more awkward than funny) when someone mentioned kilonazis, but I liked it, too. (That said, if I'm not mistaken, multiplication being commutative is beside the point and it does matter if it had been factored in or not...)
