Should we distinguish between the assailant aiming at their opponent, aiming at the hostage, and aiming at both together? The latter was done in Tomorrow Never Dies by Bond.

The trope is not about what the assailant does so it should be fine leaving it as is.

Is there a trope for situations where the human shield tells the person being shielded against to "take the shot" or "just shoot already"? I think this happens often enough to be a trope, but can't think of what it would be called.

What would be the correct term for this trope in a story with anthropomorphic animals? (Like Star Fox, for example.) Would you say "living shield"?

Perhaps an alternative title might be 'Meat Shield' a la 8 bit theatre? it's not terrible obscure even if you never read it.
