Because it's trope misuse. Merely being hungry is not this trope.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanBut it isn't about being hungry. If you decide to reject the concept of eating meat, but your body still craves it, then it sounds exactly like this trope. There's a difference between vegetarians going "I'm so hungry I could eat a burger", and "That burger sure does smell go-no, stop it! You promised yourself you wouldn't do that." Basically, it's just people IRL adding meat to their definition of horror hunger.
Still doesn't look like the trope. It's about extreme craving.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynmanhmmm - live action TV - 'Space-1999' had a good "vampiric" one - of the entropic-sink, heat/energy absorbing variety — i think Ian Mc Shane may've played the Moonbase Alpha guy possessed by some intangible alien entity . . . (must look up the episode title, yet) . . .
Edited by 69.172.221.8Would the story of Erysichthon count? Particularly the end where he devours himself after his daughter (quite understandably) abandons him?
Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry Pratchett
Sorry if this is the wrong place to bring this up, but my entry was removed for some reason. I'd put in the Real Life section that meat cravings for vegetarians and vegans can feel like horror hunger, and now it's gone :(. If someone could at least offer an explanation, that'd be nice.
