Surely we have a trope about *works* having hidden depths? (I usually realize it when I go to TV Tropes after watching them.) Could be linked from here, if.
So what is the major different between Hidden Depths and Beneath the Mask?
Being that it appears that the two tropes can overlap quite a bit to the point it is hard to tell the difference between either.
Hide / Show RepliesIf I were take a guess, Hidden Depths is when something is unintentionally hidden (probably because it doesn't come up most of the time), whereas Beneath the Mask is when a character is deliberately hiding some aspect of themselves.

Should there be an inversion trope, "Hidden Shallows", for deep characters who have some shallow interests/qualities?
