Hello, elder troper, the difference, for anyone reading this, is that this is applied to strategy games. not RP Gs. here, if this particular guy dies, the mission fails, while others can die freely, there, same, but not as an objective, and there almost nobody dies, they are knocked out. Also, the label on top, everyone disregarded it. Almost no alphabetization. I fixed it.
But Non-Lethal K.O. isn't a prerequisite for either trope. And the other page has a folder for Strategy games, as well as many other video game genres. With those differences put aside, the only difference left is that this trope involves an "objectives" screen, which seems like an unnecessary distinction between two tropes. It's sort of like if All the Worlds Are a Stage had a subtrope for being explicitly labeled as such in a puzzle game.
Could somebody explain what the difference is between this trope and We Cannot Go On Without You? They seem to be the exact same trope (main/major character dies = game over regardless of other units) applied to different genres, and there's some serious overlap between them (for example, both Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy Tactics are listed on both pages). Seems like a prime candidate for merging.
